The festivities began at 2 pm with games in the field behind the pub. Most entertaining was the rounders with most of those attending joining in. Sadly no-one recorded the chaotic scenes. There was also more relaxing badminton and boules. Whilst this was going on, Erin and Janie demonstrated their skills at face-painting for young and not so young customers! By 4 pm everyone was exhausted so there was a mass exit to the pub for refreshments.
It was also an opportunity to see how competitors were faring in the cake-decorating competition. There were some stunning efforts as seen in Carol Orchard’s winning entry and also Barbara Bowen’s commendable effort.
Next up there was bingo followed by a coronation-themed quiz which got the brain cells going
After all that exertion, both physical and mental it was time the hog roast, and then everyone, including a couple of uninvited guests!
settled down to be entertained by “The Alternatives” combo led by Donna Samuel. Finally, to round off the day, there was an opportunity for everyone to have a go with a karaoke session.
